Marilyn

This little old dog is one of the pets who inspired me to take an interest in special needs pets.

I am Marilyn and I am lucky enough to have found a job that I absolutely love. When I was young I always found friends in animals. If there was a dog on my way to school, you better believe they got some conversation and loving.

So for me to get to spend all day with furry friends is a joy.

When I am grooming, I make every effort to make the experience as pleasant as possible. If your pet has special needs such as arthritis, skin problems or fearfulness, those are taken into consideration. I also keep an eye out for any health or behavior issues so, together, we can try to keep your pet as healthy and happy as possible.

When I learned to groom, it caught me. Or I caught on to it. At any rate, I knew that I had found something I could do – and I could love to do – well. Since then, my experience with thousands of pets has taught me so much about behavior (a very interesting subject to me) and health, among many other things. I continue to learn daily and am always looking out for ways to improve my techniques.

Hopefully, I will get to meet your pet someday!

[The photo above is from a grooming competition. The poodle, Missy, had knee problems and was 12 years old. She had a difficult time standing during the 1 1/2 hour grooming time. While I could hold her up for much of what I got done, she was very tired. So, I let her lay down not all that far into it and by the end of the time, she was asleep. While the competition was a show of skills, I decided, it wasn't worth it to make her stand any more. I received second place in the competiton despite not doing the job I might have done otherwise. But the best part of it was when the judge commented to me on how she liked how well I handled the older dog.]
